Writing what we believe to be true is a very important part of our writing. Let's think about this for a minute. What makes something true? Is it the fact that someone else believes it? Or is it the way we feel about it? If we write what we feel to be true, how will other people judge us? If we write what others believe to be true, how will we feel about ourselves? The goal of writing is not for people to agree with you, but to make them think, and at the end of the day, whether they agree or disagree with you, they are forced to acknowledge your thoughts.
